This summer, Funutation Tekademy is proud to present a brand new camp, “Battlebots.” Let’s hear from Steve Floro, the mastermind behind the creation of this class.

The Invention
“I think kids will really enjoy getting to build robots designed to fight each other. Every time I teach a robot class, the kids start battling their robots together. It didn’t matter if the camp were Soccerbots, Junglebots, LEGO Robotronix – they’d do what their robots were “supposed” to do for a little bit, then just declare war. That’s what gave me the idea for the class.”

Skills & Educational Benefits
“The biggest thing kids will learn is mechanical problem solving. They have instructions for a core robot, which will show them how all the parts work. But after that they have freedom to create their own custom armor, weapons, and even a whole new design. As they build their ideas they’ll learn how mechanical physics work. Electronics are another thing they’ll come to understand when they wire their drive systems and controllers. This class is gonna be a blast! Just watching kids cheering and yelling when they were duking it out with their Soccerbots tells me they’ll really get into it. I think it’ll be a highlight of their summer.”

Steve is really excited to see what the kids create. According to him, they’re always full of ideas and equally full of desire to build motorized fighters, and this class will be the perfect outlet. The robotic mayhem starts in July, we’ll see you then!
