How long have you been running computer camps?
Funutation Tekademy has been running camps since 2002. We continually update our curriculum so that students learn cutting edge concepts at an early age. Our staff is background checked, trained, and re-trained annually to teach new concepts, safety, and how to work effectively with children.

Where do you recommend my child start?
Web Site Design and Video Game Design are courses designed for children wanting to get a start in technology. Robotronics and 3D Video Game Creations are courses designed for advanced students. Our entire curriculum is modular and fits the beginner to advanced student.

Where can I register?
You can register at a local recreation department, community education department, library, college or university community education center, church, synagogue, child and family services, and community college community education centers. Also check online at Funutation.com.

How does the program work? Do campers just take one topic per session?
Students enroll in one course per session. Our program is designed to give the child a thorough understanding of the given topic in one session. If they enroll in multiple sessions, they can take a different course, or continue their learning in the same course by completing more of the advanced modules.

Will 8-year olds be in the same class as the 15-year olds?
The teams are roughly divided into age groups of 8-11 years old and 12-15 years old because of the different maturity levels. The age range for our courses is continually evaluated and modified based on our experience and feedback from our students.

Will every child get their own computer?
We encourage team learning. Students work as teams (pairing ages 8-11 & 12-15 when possible).

Will friends be together if they both sign up for the same program?
Yes, students are all in the same area or set of rooms. Friends can choose to work with each other. Siblings generally do not work together.

What's the camper-staff ratio?
We do adhere to an 8 to 1 student to teacher ratio for our summer courses, after-school and weekend classes. For larger classes there are more instructors so the student gets the attention he or she deserve. Workshops have no set ratio.

Are parents allowed to sit in on the class?
No, however parents are invited to come in a ½ hour early on the last day for a demonstration. To facilitate the learning process and as a security precaution, only class participants are allowed in the classrooms. Parental presence creates a distraction. To maintain an effective learning environment parents are not allowed to sit in on the class.

Will Funutation Outsource Instructors as Part-Time Teachers to Schools?
Yes. Several staff members are licensed teachers. They teach as little or as often a school can afford to offer courses in Computer, Robotics, Physics, Math curricula and more. For example, Funutation teaches Robotics, Digital Video, and Digital Audio to charter and parochial schools where students receive a grade and high school credit. We also can be a resource for substitute teachers.

What are the backgrounds of your instructors?
Our instructors not only have the technical knowledge to teach each class, but they also have experience working with children. Many instructors teach year-round programs or have taught programs in previous summers. In addition, all instructors go through a background screening process as well as reference checks. Oh, one more thing...they must know how to have Fun!

Do you have year-round programming?
Yes, we offer programs year round. This includes summer, after school and weekend classes (Saturday & Sunday) at local schools, universities, community colleges, community recreation centers, churches, synagogues, and more. Our year-round programming consists of child, adult and family workshops.

Does Funutation offer private lessons in homes? Do you offer computer tutoring?
Yes, we can teach your child at home on their personal computer or on our computers the same classes we offer to our groups. The advantage of individual Computer Tutoring is that the course can be tailored to teach the student using whatever computer language he or she is interested in and move at their pace. We offer tutoring in Computer Repair, Game Design, Digital Video, Digital Music, Robotics, Web Design, Stop-Action Animation, JAVA, Javascript, XML, HTML, and more. Call us at 1-800-458-3268 for details.

What learning tools do you use?
Funutation Camps use cutting-edge software that is used by real-world developers in their industries. This software is low-cost or no-cost to the student so that they can continue learning at home without making a huge financial investment that they may soon become bored with. The knowledge gained in the camps transfers smoothly to other tools, whether no-cost or hugely expensive. All software used in the classes is either free or a free trial version can be obtained from the manufacturer's website. Certain vendor licensing does not allow us to give away those pieces of software.

Do you use special hardware?
We use standard computers that allow students to connect programmable robots, electronic musical instruments, cameras, etc.

What is your privacy policy?
Funutation Tekademy DOES NOT give, sell or trade personal information collected from online, phone or mail-in registrations to third-parties.

Do you have classes for adults?
Yes, learn more at http://www.funutation.com. We offer special day classes for retirees so that they can learn about the Internet (and how to chat with their grandchildren!) Other courses include Microsoft, Web Design and more. We also offer career training in A+, Security+, Network+, Linux, and other Certifications. Call 1-800-458-3268 for details.
